About
Technology Innovation Hub (TIH-IoT) at IIT Bombay fosters commercialization of technologies and bridges the gap between academia & industry, specifically leveraging the technology of IoT. The Technology Development Vertical of TIH-IoT invites proposals from faculty / researchers from academic and research institutions across India for the development and advancement of applications leveraging technologies related to Internet of Things (IoT). This call aims to support promising product prototypes / concepts that have progressed beyond the early research stage, i.e. Technology Readiness Level (TRL) of 6 and above. Further, it would be desirable if the researcher / faculty member has already identified an industry partner who can collaborate for real-world deployment, technology validation, and commercialization.
Areas of Interest
Proposals are invited for innovative and application-oriented IoT technologies addressing challenges across diverse sectors, including but not limited to:
- AgriTech
- Water Management
- MedTech
- Industrial IoT
- Supply Chain and Logistics
- Other emerging IoT applications
Support
- Project grant up to Rs 50 Lakhs for duration up to 12 months.
- Support for commercialization of technology
Pre-requisite
- TRL 6 and above with identified industry partner
Intellectual Property
- Intellectual property rights: Any project outputs arising from the use of the grant are to be informed by the grantee to TIH-IoT for evaluation of the protection of IP rights (such as patents, copyrights, trademarks, and designs). Any IP that is generated from the use of the grant will be jointly owned by TIH-IoT & the grantee.
Eligibility
The application must be submitted only through the application form – the link for which has been given at the end of this section.
- The proposal can be submitted by full-time researchers through their institute i.e. Research Institute, Labs, University which has a well-established support system for research. The institute should have been established in India and have NAAC / UGC / AICTE or any equivalent recognition certificate or any other Public/ Government organization.
- The technology should be at TRL 6 and above.
- It is desirable if the PI has an identified industry partner and submit supporting documentation confirming the collaboration.
- The Principal Investigator/ Project Leader shall be responsible for the technical and managerial aspects of the project execution.
- Applicants can submit applications for more than one proposal for different sub-project categories. Please fill a separate application form for each proposal

- Milestones and Budget have to be submitted in the prescribed format given here Milestone & Budget (Download the Excel format and upload as XLS)
- The applicant may upload a short 2-minute video with a visualization of the technology or product with a use case. The proposed methodology to address the problem statement should be well-defined.
- The applicant from Academia (PI) must submit an Endorsement Letter of support as per the prescribed format given here (Download the word format and upload as PDF)
