About TIH Foundation for IoT & IoE (TIH-IoT)
TIH Foundation for IoT & IoE (TIH-IoT) has been setup as a Section-8 company (not-for-profit) by IIT Bombay under the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NM-ICPS), being implemented by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. Technology Innovation Hub for IoT & IoE (TIH-IoT) at IIT Bombay is focusing on creating a self-sustaining innovation continuum by fostering translational research for technology & product development, building highly knowledgeable human resources, and a vibrant start-up ecosystem, in the technology vertical of the Internet of Things (IoT). The goal is to help India become a pioneer in technology-led economic growth and prepare the country to be the world leader in the technology arena
About the Program
To honour & provide support as well as to gain knowledge and guidance in research from the expertise in the domain of CPS, the Faculty Fellowship and the Chair Professor program are introduced by TIH-IoT. The TIH-IoT CHANAKYA Faculty Fellow and TIH-IoT CHANAKYA Chair Professor are distinguished positions for academia and industry professionals (including Professor of Practice) having rich industrial experience. They are highly valued in academic circles due to the prestige attached to them on the one hand and to the contribution, the faculty makes during their tenure, on the other.
Faculty from Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs) and IITs or industry professionals, who have demonstrated excellence in research through technology development, patents, and publications in top-tier journals/conferences, in the broad domain of Cyber-Physical Systems are encouraged to apply for this program. These awards are meant for faculty and industry experts who are interested in playing a leadership role in their areas of research and working closely with the TIH-IoT.

Role and Responsibilities :
1. TIH-IoT CHANAKYA Faculty Fellow (Academia)
- Technology Development – Significantly contribute to the technology/product development of the TIH-IoT’s outlined core and application-oriented technologies.
- Idea to Commercialization – Contribute to the increase of the TRL (Technology Readiness Level) for the commercialization of the idea.
- IPR Generation – Significantly contribute and support the generation of high-quality IP in the broad domain of Cyber-Physical Systems preferably IoT & IoE. It includes patents, publications, trademarks, design registrations, etc
2. TIH-IoT CHANAKYA Chair Professor (Academia and Industry Professional/ Professor of Practice)
- Technology Leader – Play a leading role in the broad domain of Cyber-Physical Systems and work closely with the TIH-IoT for the development of identified IoT Core Technologies and Application areas.
- Experience – Experience in ideation, innovation, and commercialization
- Technology transfer – Understands ground reality of technology transfer, passionate about the R&D aspects of IoT and translational research, Sharpness to pick-up innovative solution.
- Stakeholder Interaction – To propagate TIH-IoT in Academia, Government Departments, Research Centres, Industries, etc by representing TIH-IoT and To popularize TIH-IoT among the public.
- Translational Research Ecosystem – will help in developing the Translational Research Ecosystem strategy for the TIH-IoT.
- Idea Generator for CPS Policies and Programs – To provide innovative ideas for implementation of the Cyber-Physical Systems policies and programs.
- TIH-IoT Visibility – To participate in the conferences, and workshops and increase the visibility of TIH-IoT in such events.
Support
1. TIH-IoT CHANAKYA Faculty Fellow
- An honorarium of Rs. 30,000/- per month in addition to existing regular income and an annual grant of Rs. 1,00,000/- as contingency.
- Support for travel for attending the conferences/workshops of upto Rs 1,50,000.
2.1 TIH-IoT CHANAKYA Chair Professor (Academia)
- An honorarium of Rs. 30,000/- per month in addition to existing regular income and an annual grant of Rs. 1,50,000/- as a contingency.
- Support for one RA (project support staff) at maximum Rs. 30,000/- per month (Inclusive of HRA).
- The support for travel for attending the meetings/conferences/workshops of upto Rs 2,00,000.
2.2 TIH-IoT CHANAKYA Chair Professor (Industry Professional/Professor of Practice)
- An honorarium of Rs. 60,000/- per month in addition to existing regular income and an annual grant of Rs. 1,50,000/- as a contingency. Expected engagement is equivalent to half a day per week.
- The support for travel for attending the meetings/conferences/workshops of upto Rs 2,00,000.
Duration
- The term of TIH-IoT CHANAKYA Faculty Fellow (Academia) and TIH-IoT CHANAKYA Chair Professor (Academia and Industry Professional/ Professor of Practice) Program will be initially for 2 years, which may be extended further for one year subject to outcome and performance.
Eligibility Criteria
1. TIH-IoT CHANAKYA Faculty Fellow (Academia)
- The applicant should be an Indian national employed in academic institutions in India.
- The applicant should be working at Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/ Professor level. Age not more than 60 years
- The applicant should not be receiving any other fellowship from any other Government sources
2. TIH-IoT CHANAKYA Chair Professor (Academia/Industry Professional/Professor of Practice)
- The applicant should be an Indian national.

The position is open for:
- Academicians at Associate Professor/Professor level, or industry experts, in service, or (Age not more than 60 years) or
- Retired Professors/Industry experts (Age below 70 years)
- The applicant should be an outstanding teacher or researcher or an industry professional of repute with rich experience.
- The applicant should not be receiving any other fellowship from any other Government sources

- Statement of Purpose with a brief outline of applicant’s work, how he/she fits into the role
- NOC from the parent organization if the applicant is in service. (Format)

Vision document is required to be submitted by the applicant with following guidelines. (The vision document should be restricted to one page)
- The vision document should convey your vision and thoughts for contributions to the TIH-IoT
- A brief about how your expertise will help the TIH-IoT to achieve its objectives and create a win-win situation, specifically in building a translational research ecosystem at the TIH-IoT
- A brief about the collaborative research framework
- Official contact details of two referees for recommendation letters. (Recommendations Letters would be requested by TIH-IoT office on email)
